Noah’s Ark Restaurant is a third generation, family-run business that has been serving the Kitsap community from the heart of Bremerton for 40 years. It’s always been our priority to serve quality food in a family-friendly atmosphere where all of our customers feel welcome and comfortable. Yesterday, we were informed by other patrons (both male and female) that there was a woman standing at the entrance breastfeeding her child who was making them feel uncomfortable. We approached the woman and asked her if she would mind covering up. In an attempt to keep all of our customers comfortable, we unintentionally offended her and for that we sincerely apologize. In hindsight we wish that we had approached the situation differently, and we will be educating ourselves and our staff on customer’s rights, and how to appropriately handle complaints received from other patrons moving forward. We have warmly welcomed many breastfeeding mothers into our dining room over the years and it was never our intention to make anyone feel disrespected or discriminated against. It was certainly never our intent to infringe upon anyone’s rights, especially that of a mother. In a show of support to the nursing mothers in our community, we would like to join in on the nurse-in planned for this Saturday at 11 a.m. and offer free milkshakes to the first 50 mothers in attendance. Although we can't turn back time and change what transpired, we are hopeful that our efforts to right this situation reflects our apology to all that were affected.
